The strokes applied in manual lymphatic drainage massage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing.

This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that cleanses the connective tissue of inflammatory materials and metabolic wastes, enhances the activity of the immune system, reduces pain and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, (Fight or Flight), thus increasing the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system, (Relaxation).

Using the flat part of the fingertips and hands, with the weight of about two quarters, lymphatic drainage is about moving skin, not muscle tissue. This manual stimulation stretches the lymph nodes, helping to release and remove whatever was causing the congestion in the nodes. This very light, yet effective modality produces the following results and more:

  • Reduction in edemas (swelling) and lymphedemas of various origins
  • Detoxification of the body
  • Regeneration of tissue, including burns, wounds and wrinkles
  • Anti-aging effects
  • Relief of numerous chronic and subacute inflammations, including sinusitis,
    and bronchitis
  • Relief of chronic pain
  • Reduction in the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia
  • Deep relaxation to aid insomnia, stress, loss of vitality and loss of memory
  • Alleviation of cellulite tissue
