CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping had been part of Chinese medicine for over 2,500 years. Cupping is basically a form of deep tissue acupressure. Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, increase the body's flow of energy, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, (increase circulation), activate the skin, clear stretch marks, improve varicose veins, reduce pain, and soften stiff muscles and tissues. Cupping is one of the best deep tissue massages available.

There are 2 main types of cupping:

  • Stationary cupping: Each plastic cup is left in one position on skin for about 5-10
    minutes.
  • Massage Cupping: The plastic cups are moved around the skin in a massage-like
    technique.
I use the method of clear plastic cups that connect to a tube and a manually operated air pump so that I can control the pressure and the suction. Sometimes a person will experience circular red marks, this is a sign that the cupping technique has worked to increase your circulation. These marks tend to fade anywhere from 3-5 days, and some people will experience no marking of any kind.
